Newcastle United might have to sell one of their best players this summer, and they are not going to be shy of suitors with Real Madrid circling.
Despite being the richest club in the world, the Magpies are struggling financially. That is because of the Premier League‘s profit and sustainability rules, with teams up and down the division finding it difficult to spend.
The only way to get round it is to bring more money into the club, and the quickest way to do that is to sell someone. And the most likely to leave Newcastle United this summer is Bruno Guimaraes.
He looks set to be a man in demand, with the 26-year-old boasting a release clause worth £100million. There are fears that Newcastle will have to let him go, and there is now concern that the bright lights of Real Madrid might come calling.
Newcastle expect Real Madrid to move for Bruno Guimaraes
That is according to TalkSPORT, who state that Newcastle are preparing themselves for Real Madrid to increase their efforts to sign Bruno Guimaraes.
They report that the Magpies are ‘bracing themselves’ for Los Blancos to make a move, with Real Madrid representatives recently watching the midfielder in action. They state that scouts from the La Liga club watched Bruno play during Newcastle’s 2-0 defeat to Manchester City in the FA Cup last weekend.
That story was also reported by HITC, with PSG another club who had officials present at the Etihad to watch the Brazil international.
Bruno Guimaraes is interested in playing in Spain
Bruno is attracting admiring glances from the best clubs in the world, and the fact that he has a release clause in his contract leaves Newcastle in a very vulnerable position.
While it is clear that Bruno loves playing at St James’ Park and has a unique relationship with the Toon Army, clubs like Real Madrid can be impossible to turn down. They are arguably the biggest club on the planet, and a move there would see Bruno line up alongside the likes of Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Junior and possibly Kylian Mbappe too.
That would be a dream for any player, and Bruno, who was called ‘sensational’ by Alan Shearer for his display against Nottingham Forest last month, is also someone who has aspirations of playing in Spain. That was reported about the Brazilian last year, with Bruno keen to compete in La Liga at some point in his career.
He could get that opportunity very soon, with Real Madrid threatening to make a move. And if they do agree to activate his release clause, it will almost certainly be the beginning of the end of Bruno Guimaraes’ Newcastle United career.
