'Almost infallible': Greek media seriously impressed by George Baldock as Sheffield Utd man impresses v Kazakhstan

Sheffield United might not have the highest number of internationals in their squad but George Baldock is one of them.

Baldock joined a number of other United players out on international duty this week. The likes of Ben Brereton-Diaz, James McAtee and Anel Ahmedhodzic were all called up.

For Baldock, his game felt bigger than some of the other offerings. Greece were facing off against Kazakhstan for a place in the Euro 2024 play-off finals.

In the end, it was smooth sailing for Baldock and Greece, as they ran out 5-0 winners and will now face Georgia for a place in Germany this summer.

Baldock has quickly become a key member of the Greece side. And given another start last night, it looks like the Sheffield United man has impressed once again.

Greece national media deliver verdict on George Baldock after beating Kazakhstan 5-0

On a comfortable night for the Greeks, Baldock played just shy of 70 minutes and helped his side to a clean-sheet in a dominant win.

And Greek outlet SDNA was full of praise for the Blades star, especially his defensive work.

“Defensively almost infallible. A lot of ups in the opposing half. He showed in yet another game what a modern full-back he is. He was replaced in the 68th minute by Rota to catch his breath ahead of Georgia,” they wrote.

Baldock will be hoping for another start next week against the Georgians. A place in the Euros would cap off a remarkable rise for Baldock, who has been a key part of United since signing in 2017.

Sheffield United must keep George Baldock

The Blades go into the summer with a lot of players out of contract and Baldock is one of them.

Stephen Bettis hinted the other night that a number of players actually have one year options in their deals and United fans will be hoping Baldock is one of them.

This assessment from the Greek media is petty much what we as Blades fans have grown accustomed to seeing from the right-back down the years.

Hopefully, he can stay around a bit longer, have a brilliant Euros, then come back to Bramall Lane fit and ready to go for another promotion.
