Pep Guardiola could create a scary partnership in his Manchester City side by signing one specific player this summer.

The City boss has not been shy when it comes to adding big-name players from various clubs across Europe and beyond to his squad.

Even though the Blues are about to enter a crucial period of their season with the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League still up for grabs, we have been considering what the upcoming summer transfer window could look like.

Over the past year, the Citizens have been linked with a move for Bayern Munich midfielder, who will reportedly be allowed to leave the German club in the summer should a suitable offer come their way.

If City were to land a deal for the 29-year-old and reunite him with his former manager at the Etihad Stadium, this would give the Spaniard the chance to create a very strong midfield partnership between Kimmich and Rodri.

With 20 Bundesliga appearances under his belt this season, Kimmich, who Guardiola once described as an “outstanding” player, has made more progressive passes (169) and more crosses (134) than any other player in the Bayern squad.

Then with Rodri, he has also made more progressive passes (234) than any of his teammates, in addition to having the highest combined total of tackles and interceptions (74) at City in the Premier League this season.

Bearing in mind how the Bayern star has also featured in defensive roles during his career, this versatility would make him a useful figure for Guardiola.

In terms of creating a dynamic duo with Rodri, the Spaniard’s efficiency on and off the ball could make it easier for Kimmich to operate around the midfield.
