65-cap international playing in England bizarrely admits he’s open to joining West Ham this summer

Well, well, well…it seems as though one player in particular is open to joining West Ham United in the summer.

West Ham boss David Moyes has to make at least four or five new signings in the summer transfer window, in order to complete his squad.

However, as things stand the only rumours doing the rounds are involving players potentially leaving, with the likes of Flynn Downes and Maxwel Cornet being heavily linked with the London Stadium exit door.

One particular area where Moyes needs to strengthen is his central midfield department, with more competition and cover required for Edson Alvarez, Tomas Soucek and James Ward-Prowse.

It has been claimed that the Hammers boss will not push to make the loan deal of Kalvin Phillips permanent in the summer, so another central midfielder may well be on his way to the London Stadium.

Ideally, Moyes would like to bring in someone who can play in numerous different positions – a versatile midfielder who can operate in the defensive, orthodox or attacking roles.

So with that in mind, the latest comments from one player in particular may well interest Moyes and his staff…

Star who plays in England open to joining West Ham

A new central midfielder will definitely be on Moyes’s radar this summer, but no names in particular have been mentioned just yet.

However, one specific player has seemingly just thrust himself into West Ham’s sights.

Ozan Tufan – a 65-capped Turkey international – is currently playing in the Championship with Hull City, after joining them from Fenerbahce in 2022.

When asked by a Sporx reporter whether he’d like to join West Ham this summer, Tufan responded by saying:

“I love London very much. It is a place I enjoy very much. During my time at Watford, I used to go there all the time after training. Let’s see (what the future holds). I have a dream. But, if I go (to the Premier League) with Hull, it will give me even more pleasure.”

The strange thing about the question from the reporter, and the subsequent response from the Hull City midfielder, is that West Ham haven’t even been linked with signing him! It was just bizarre all round really.

He is incredibly versatile and can play in all the positions in midfield from the deep-lying one all the way up to the number 10 role.

The Turkish ace can even play on the right wing or in the centre-forward position, and he has bagged eight goals in 28 Championship appearances for the Tigers so far this season (Transfermarkt).

The 29-year-old is a decent player, but I don’t think we’ll go anywhere near him when the summer transfer window opens.

Tufan may well be open to joining West Ham this summer, but that doesn’t mean we’ll be going in for him. It will be an interesting one to keep an eye on nonetheless.
