Journalist offers update on whether Max Wober and Rasmus Kristensen could play again for Leeds

The future of both Max Wober and Rasmus Kristensen at Leeds United remains very much up in the air.

Both were among a large group of players who left Leeds on loan last summer in the wake of relegation from the Premier League, but as of yet, permanent deals have not been agreed for either.

Wober has had a far better time of it at Borussia Monchengladbach this season and the German side are said to be keen on making it permanent, but Leeds’ asking price could prove to be a major stumbling block.

Kristensen on the other hand, has been really poor at Roma from almost the moment he signed. He was not named in their Europa League squad at the start of the season, and his Serie A performances have been below par, too.

As of yet, there has been no indication Roma want to sign him permanently and with Jose Mourinho, the manager who brought him to Italy, no longer in charge, it looks unlikely.

With that in mind, LeedsUnited.News have spoken to transfer expert Graeme Bailey regarding the future of both players, and he says there is a chance they return to Leeds and are looked at by Daniel Farke in pre-season.

Bailey shares what Leeds will do with Wober and Kristensen this summer

On Wober, he said: “I don’t think the fan stuff would impact massively on the club’s determination for a player. Nobody could’ve angered the fans more than Gnonto, but look at him now. I don’t think that would be a huge issue.

“Wober is a good player and he’s one who did well in England. He has been consistent at the back for Gladbach too, it is one where if Leeds can get the money back and wages covered, they would probably do it. Gladbach do quite fancy it but there won’t be an issue for Leeds, if they don’t want him to stay, there will be buyers there, with Gladbach at the front of the queue.”

He then added: “Kristensen, he wasn’t great but I thought he was OK at full-back. You lost Luke Ayling and it isn’t an area Leeds are particularly well-versed in. There is every chance these two [Kristensen and Aaronson] could come back and have a role, or at the very least Farke could have a look and consider things.

“As we’ve seen in the Premier League when you have a Premier League player on good money, which they are, it is not easy to get rid of them. It wouldn’t surprise me if they got a chance. Kristensen is probably more likely to get a move, he has looked OK [at Roma]. He’s looked like a top-flight defender and done reasonably well in patches.

“We will see with them, but I’d say Kristensen is the more likely to get a move out of the two of them at the moment. It also depends on whether Leeds are willing to do loans again. That will be up to Farke, and you do need a bigger squad in the Premier League. With those two, there is a chance they could comeback and feature.”

Farke may have already dropped hint Wober and Kristensen won’t return to Leeds

Upon the completion of Luis Sinisterra’s permanent move to Bournemouth last month, Farke explained exactly why Leeds opted to sell him.

He said metaphorically that food never tastes as good after it has been re-heated in the microwave, which was effectively a hint that he did not want to give him a second chance.

Farke simply must take that same stance with the likes of Kristensen and Wober, particularly when you also consider their impacts were far inferior to Sinisterra’s at Leeds.

Both players were part of the worst defence in the league and while of the two Wober was better, neither showed enough to say they should be brought back into the fold after wanting to leave on loan.

Leeds have managed to rebuild their squad really well after relegation and a fresh start has much improved the feeling around the club.
