Report suggests Nottingham Forest will sell £45,000-a-week player this summer, but for a loss

Reports suggest Nottingham Forest are definitely aiming to sell one player this summer after a miserable campaign at the City Ground.

It was The Athletic who provided the information.

Those in the boardroom at the City Ground need to balance the books this summer after the Premier League docked Nottingham Forest four points for breaching financial rules.

By the sounds of it, Nottingham Forest have already made a decision to sell one player…

Nottingham Forest likely to sell Odysseas Vlachodimos

Well – according to The Athletic – Nottingham Forest will look to sell either Odysseas Vlachodimos or Matt Turner this summer, with at least one of Nuno Espirito Santo’s goalkeeping options likely to be sold.

There is a lot to suggest the Greece international will be the one to make way.

Vlachodimos has featured in just five Premier League games this season and has been left out of the last six matchday squads – whereas Turner has 17 Premier League appearances to his name.

That would suggest the American is Nuno’s preferred No.2 behind Matz Sels – and the Greek glovesman has been tipped to leave if the situation does not change.

Vlachodimos also earns £45,000-a-week at the City Ground, a salary that Nottingham Forest simply cannot justify for a third choice goalkeeper.

The Athletic add that Nottingham Forest are unlikely to recoup the £7m paid to Benfica for the Greek glovesman back in September – with any sale set to come at a loss.

Both should be sold

Nottingham Forest have made a real mess of the goalkeeping department this season, and a total clear out – with the exceptions of Sels – would make sense.

Turner has been a woeful signing – with him and Vlachodimos struggling so significantly that Nottingham Forest needed to go out and buy Sels as something of an emergency signing in January.

The United States international cost £10m from Arsenal – that means £17m has basically been chucked down the drain on two below par goalkeepers, when an amount that high could have been spent on someone like Dean Henderson.

With Nottingham Forest needing to balance the books this summer, Turner and Vlachodimos should be among the first names put up for sale.
