The latest on Celtic's contract offer on the table for Rocco Vata as scouts take in Irish show

With Rocco Vata’s contract at Celtic still due to expire at the end of the season, his future at the Bhoys is far from certain.

The Bhoys have rebuffed bids for him this season, indicating they are keen to tie him down to more years in Glasgow. However, the teenager has yet to officially put pen to paper on a new deal.

Vata again attracted attention during this international break after a hat-trick for the Republic of Ireland U21s on Friday night.

Now training full-time with the first-team squad at Lennoxtown, manager Brendan Rodgers has recently indicated talks have taken place on a new contract for the talent – alongside fellow Academy graduate Daniel Kelly.

Celtic face competition to keep Rocco Vata

The Daily Record has now reported those talks are ongoing and that Vata has an offer ‘on the table’ that would extend his current contract to the summer of 2027.

It’s said that scouts from AC Milan, Bologna and Atalanta were in place to watch Vata net his trio of goals against San Marino last night, suggesting that teams are still keen on landing him.

English side Watford are also said to be in discussions with Vata’s representatives about a possible summer move.

Celtic would receive just £400,000 in training compensation if the winger, who turns 19 next month, decides to make an exit.

Several young talents have left Celtic for bigger leagues in recent seasons, most notably Ben Doak. It would be a blow to see another with potential choose to say goodbye before really making a notable impact at the Bhoys.
