Arsenal’s never-ending search for a new striker looks set to continue into the summer transfer window.
After all the talk of landing a new number nine in January ended with nothing, the Gunners are expected to utilise the summer window to try and do their business.
A lot of the talk around a new number nine for the Gunners has centred on Brentford star, Ivan Toney.
However, others are in the frame as well as Mikel Arteta looks for the perfect striker. And one of those options is Sporting Lisbon striker, Viktor Gyokeres.
Gyokeres has been in blistering form since signing from Coventry for £20m in the summer. And according to reports from Italy, Arsenal and Chelsea are on the front row for his signature.

According to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport, Italian giants AC Milan are among the teams keen on bringing Gyokeres in over the summer.
It’s reported how getting Zlatan Ibrahimovic involved could help Milan’s pursuit of the Swede. Or at least, that’s what the higher ups in Milan hope.
However, the report claims that it is indeed Arsenal and Chelsea who are on the ‘front row’ when it comes to being able to sign Gyokeres.
The ‘unbelievable‘ striker has whacked in a remarkable 36 goals in 39 games this season for Sporting.
Gyokeres has a release-clause of around £85m. However, it has been claimed Arsenal could land him for less than that.

The goals he’s scored this season have been quite ridiculous. However, you do have to hold question marks over a striker who was only in the Championship last season and has had a year in Portugal.
Yes, the record is brilliant and he could end the season with 50 goals at this rate. But to do it in England is a different matter.
Sporting, of course, are right to hold out for the full £85m. They are entitled to do that and will want the biggest fee possible for their talisman.
For Arsenal, they simply have to get their next big signing right. Gyokeres might well be the man. But there are question marks and Edu will need to take everything into consideration.
