Report: London club 'would love' to sign Tottenham 24-year-old on a free transfer, deal ends in June

A summer clear out at Tottenham could be on the cards, a year into Ange Postecoglou’s stint as the club’s manager with plenty of decisions needed to be made on a number of fringe players at Spurs.

Tottenham have nine senior players out on loan at the moment, including the likes of Eric Dier and Ivan Perisic who are expected to complete permanent moves to their loan clubs in the coming months.

There also needs to be a decision made on a number of players who see their deals end in 2025. Joe Rodon, Tanguy Ndombele, Troy Parrott, Sergio Reguilon are about to enter the last year of their deals.

Another decision has to be made about Tanganga. Contrary to what is reported on TransferMarkt, 24-year-old Tanganga is out of contract at the end of the season – but his agent says Spurs have an option.

Millwall would love to sign Tottenham player Japhet Tanganga

Tanganga is currently out on loan at Championship club Millwall, after failing to play a single game for German side Augsburg during the first half of the season. He is impressing, even scoring two goals.

The defender has no future at Spurs, especially with the form of Pedro Porro on the right of the defence and in the middle – the new signing of Radu Dragusin behind Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven.

Spurs will lose a homegrown, academy-trained player but for the good of his career – Tanganga needs to leave the London club and go elsewhere. The Evening Standard expect he will be leave this summer.

The report claims that Millwall ‘would love’ to sign Tanganga permanently in the coming months. But, whether Tanganga and his Italian agents are open to him joining a second-tier side remains to be seen.

What do we know about Japhet Tanganga’s future at Tottenham

A recent report surfaced that said Tanganga is unsure if he will remain at Spurs – he is yet to receive any communication from the London side. That information is likely to surface over the coming months.

Tanganga himself has said that the way Postecoglou plays should suit him – but he has not been given the chance to show that by the Aussie manager, who has instead made signings or used other players.

He’s a top player, able to play in a number of different roles, boasting strength and speed. But he is not going to make it at Spurs, and needs to find himself a club where he is going to get regular game time.
