‘Monitoring him closely’… Fabrizio Romano gives update on wonderkid Tottenham transfer target

Fabrizio Romano has given a fresh update on one potential wonderkid that has been linked with a Tottenham transfer.

Tottenham are gearing up for another huge summer in the transfer market, with a whole host of incomings and outgoings prepared. For Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou, it represents another chance to build towards his vision.

That will be regardless of where the Lilywhites finish in the table, while they continue to chase for a return to the Champions League. However, any finish that results in qualification could hand an even bigger budget to work with.

Attention on the transfer front is likely to continue on the theme of bringing in some young and talented options. The likes of Destiny Udogie, Pape Matar Sarr, Brennan Johnson and Lucas Bergvall in the past few years have outlined that approach.

This summer is set to be yet another where key players with lots of potential will be on the radar.

Jobe Bellingham to Tottenham transfer

One of those talented young stars linked with a switch to north London is Sunderland playmaker Jobe Bellingham. The 18-year-old is the younger brother of England and Real Madrid talisman Jude Bellingham.

A previous report from Football Insider in November 2023 had claimed that Spurs were keeping close tabs on the midfielder. Bellingham has gone on to impress for the Black Cats, making 37 Championship appearances with six goals and one assist.

At just 18, there are some high hopes for his career ahead, which is catching the eye of a few teams as well as Spurs. On the transfer interest, Fabrizio Romano added: “Another name to watch is surely going to be Jude Bellingham’s younger brother, Jobe Bellingham, who is impressing at Sunderland.

“I really like him. I personally view him as an excellent talent – he’s a serious guy and a hard worker as well. I’m sure his future will be bright. For him to be similar to Jude is going to be difficult, as it would be for everyone as he’s a generational player, but Jobe is really talented and good.

“We will see what happens in the summer, it’s quiet so far but scouts are obviously monitoring him closely.”

A bright Tottenham future

Tottenham have a clear philosophy when it comes to signing some of the best young talent while they can, without paying the extortionate transfer fees once they rise to the top. While the likes of Sarr and Udogie are already thriving in the first-team, there’s plenty of future options in the squad.

Bergvall signed as a new Tottenham player in February, and will join the team in the summer from Sweden, with plenty raving about his potential ceiling. There’s also Alejo Veliz, Jamie Donley, Mikey Moore and a whole host of other prospects in the background waiting for their chances.

To say it’s an exciting time for this Spurs team to grow would be an understatement, with Bellingham another option that could join the project.
