'Definitely': £60m striker told he'd really enjoy life if he moves to Liverpool

The post-Jurgen Klopp era is an intriguing one at Liverpool. Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes are now on board, and the Reds are preparing for life without the German manager, with change afoot.

A new manager is the next decision to be made, with Hughes now brought in as sporting director and Edwards as the club’s chief executive. With a manager in place, the club can make a decision on players.

Without a manager, the Reds will struggle to decide which players to keep, to offer contracts, to sell. But, they continue to be linked with a number of new summer signings ahead of the summer’s window.

A striker could be targeted by Liverpool, with Darwin Nunez’s absence felt at points this season despite the presence of Cody Gakpo. Joshua Zirkzee promises to be one of the most in-demand talents this term.

Liverpool urged to sign Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee

In his second season at Serie A side Bologna, Zirkzee has been phenomenal. Captaining Thiago Motta’s side on occasion, the former Bayern man has had a hand in 17 goals in 30 games for high-flying Bologna.

Tottenham are said to be looking at doing a deal for the £60m-rated talent this summer. Arsenal are also keen on Zirkzee, a player that has been compared to fellow countryman Dennis Bergkamp in the past.

Now, Zirkzee’s former coach Ferry Verbeek, who says that the attacker would shine if he could join a club like Liverpool or Barcelona, during an interview with Sport Italia. It is unclear if Liverpool are interested.

“I think he would definitely have a bright future at AC Milan. At Liverpool or Barcelona, however, he would be better in his element, with a lot of forward pressure and a lot of ball possession,” Verbeek said on him.

Why Zirkzee could be tempted to stay put at Bologna

Zirkzee would be a sensational signing for The Reds. He has that personality on the pitch, that swagger, that tenacity and both the ability to score goals and create them. The heartbeat of this Bologna side.

It will be interesting to see what Zirkzee wants to do this summer, with the Dutchman pushing Bologna into the top four and potentially into next season’s Champions League. It might tempt him to stay put.

But, a move to one of Europe’s illustrious clubs like a Liverpool, and Arsenal, Barcelona or an AC Milan will surely be tempting for Zirkzee. Bayern are also said to have a buyback clause in his Bologna contract.

A big decision to make for Zirkzee. But there is no doubting that he would improve most Premier League sides and if Liverpool did make a move – after Verbeek’s comments – then he would be a solid addition.
