Swedish media noticed something about Dejan Kulusevski's fitness after watching him play last night

Following Sweden’s win against Albania last night, an interesting comment was made about Tottenham Hotspur winger Dejan Kulusevski’s fitness.

Kulusevski started in his customary role on the right wing in the 1-0 win, and ended up assisting Gustaf Nilsson’s winner in the 62nd minute.

The game marked the 23-year-old’s 37th cap for his country, a number he’ll surely hope to take beyond 100 one day.

Of course, the Swede has been thriving under Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham this season, an excellent executor of his manager’s game plan.

As well as his creativity, Kulusevski has also proven to be one of the most hard-working pressers at the club, and he’s rarely left out of Postecoglou’s eleven as a result.

In order to fulfil that role, the winger obviously needs to be in top condition, and following his performance for Sweden last night, local media did actually make an interesting comment on his fitness.

Kulusevski’s match reports were very positive on the whole, and Svenskafans did attribute that to the Spurs man looking ‘much fitter’ than previously.

Tottenham’s Dejan Kulusevski looked much fitter for Sweden last night

Perhaps referring to the 5-2 loss against Portugal last Thursday, the report praised Kulusevski’s work rate on this occasion.

It wrote: “Much fitter today compared to last time. Works hard and has several interesting passes into the penalty area – one who fixed the victory.”

Fotbollskanalen also shared their summary of the Tottenham man’s display last night, stopping short of mentioning any fitness concerns.

It read: “Was involved in a lot of offensive activities in the first half and was involved where the heat was on.

“But without it loosening up in the decisive situations. It did so in the second half when he played well until Gustaf Nilsson’s 1-0 goal.”

Of course, with Sweden having now concluded their two fixtures during this break, Tottenham will be happy to see another player return unscathed.

Ange Postecoglou will still be determined to claim fourth spot this season – even if he doesn’t see it as a trophy.

And he’ll know there’s no room for dropping points against Luton Town on Saturday, even if the visitors are fighting for their Premier League survival.

All that being said, Les Ferdinand has now named three Tottenham players from the past he considered to be ‘incredible’ finishers.
