‘I don’t think’: Ben Foster shares his different opinion about Ben Chilwell after watching him for England

Former England star Ben Foster has now shared his opinion on Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell after seeing him play for his country at the weekend.

He told ‘The Football Fill-In’ that he actually disagrees with a lot of other people when it comes to his thoughts on him.

Starting alongside Chelsea teammate Conor Gallagher, the duo were part of a side who were defeated at Wembley thanks to an Endrick goal.

Chilwell criticised for England performance

There was no Cole Palmer on display for the home side, with him struggling with his fitness at a time where he could genuinely make a case to start at the Euros.

Chilwell was quick to receive criticism off the back of his performance, with many believing he did not perform to the standard required for his country.

Foster seems to have disagreed though, stating that he believes the Blues man actually defended impressively throughout the night.

Foster disagrees with Chilwell slander

He said: “I don’t think he played that badly. I thought defensively he was sound. It was just going forward there were a few opportunities where it didn’t really come off for him.”

It remains to be seen whether the Chelsea vice-captain will be named in the starting side for their second fixture of the week against Belgium tonight.

With his place for his nation potentially under threat, the situation is likely the same when he returns to Stamford Bridge ahead of the Premier League coming back.

The Blues face Burnley at the weekend, and it remains to be seen if a number of their players return from international duty with a clean bill of health.

It has already been reported that Enzo Fernandez may be expected to be on the bench when they are back in action.

Chilwell may well join him too if the manager decides to keep the faith with Marc Cucurella, after his impressive couple of performances recently.
