Crystal Palace now keen on 17-year-old who has "enormous" potential, could be the next Vinicius Junior

Crystal Palace are reportedly keen on signing a Brazilian wonderkid, here’s everything you need to know about the 17-year-old.

Signing Matheus Franca for £26m is a sign Crystal Palace aren’t afraid of spending money in South America.

The 19-year-old winger arrived at Selhurst Park last summer but was seldom used by Roy Hodgson.

Since Oliver Glasner‘s arrival though, he’s enjoyed more minutes, even contributing an assist in Glasner’s first game against Burnley.

Now, he could be joined by the next big thing breaking through at his former club, Flamengo, here’s everything we know.

Crystal Palace targeting move for Lorran

According to Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola, Palace have joined Newcastle United in ‘keeping an eye’ on 17-year-old Flamengo starlet, Lorran.

With a contract expiring in December 2025, and the player rejecting offers so far, he could very well be on the move this summer.

One issue will be his £43m release clause which Flamengo could be insistent on any interested suitors paying.

The report continues that Manchester City have shown interest, and could use their Brazilian City Group affiliate Bahia as a way of signing Lorran cheaper as he paper release clause for Brazilian sides.

This could be something John Textor looks into with Botafogo, moving Lorran there initially before a move to Palace eventually.

Lorran is a top prospect though, so being linked with him shows Palace are doing the right thing, he’d be quite a coup and is even seen as Flamengo’s next Vinicius Junior.

Lorran could be the next Vinicius Junior says Brazilian football expert

Given that Lorran is a name which isn’t widely known, We Are Palace, has spoken exclusively with Vamo Flamengo’s Rogerio Junior, to see what kind of player he is.

“A little about Lorran, he arrived at Flamengo at 13 years old. At 15, the young man was already a member of the under-17 team.

“His skill made him jump stages, and at the age of 16, he debuted in the main team, in the Campeonato Carioca, and scored a goal in the competition.

“In this way, he surpassed Vinicius Jr and became the youngest player to score goals for the Flamengo professional
Lorran shoots with his left leg, is fast, and has good dribbling quality.

“He is seen as having enormous potential within Flamengo, who intends to make a sale at the same level as Vinicius Junior.

“He is a very promising athlete, who could become very good, but he is not yet a player ready for the professionals. Need a little more experience.”

Lorran is quite clearly an exciting prospect that Palace would see long-term potential in as he’d be unlikely to be an instant first-teamer.
