Drake Bell has told fans lyrics he wrote at age 15 for the song In The End was about the abuse he suffered as a teenager at the hands of a Nickelodeon Dialogue Coach.

The child actor who carved a career for himself away from television with music, bravely opened up about the order in a new docuseries. Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV, went viral last week after revelations came out that Drake was molested by a former dialogue coach who worked at Nickelodeon, Brian Peck. The 37-year-old has since made a TikTok video explaining one of his heartbreaking songs he penned when he was just 15 years old. In the video, the celebrity shared the track was part of the 2005 record Telegraph. Drake Bell explained the lyrics behind In The End was about the traumatic experience he lived through.

He wrote: “I wrote this song when I was 15 about what happened before I said anything to anyone”.

Fans ‘bawling their eyes out’

After seeing Drake Bell‘s video explaining the lyrics behind his song In The End, fans have rallied to offer their support to the music star.

One wrote: “Drake, I’m so sorry that things happened to you. My heart is broken. I’m from Kazakhstan, I grow up watching your TV shows. And knowing that while I laughed, you’re struggling with all of this…”

A second wrote: “Drake Bell has me bawling at 3am.”

A third penned: “I was heartbroken finding out that most if not all my favorite Nickelodeon stars heart.”

While a fourth begged: “Protect this man at all costs 😭”

And a fifth added: “I was listening to this song the other night and now that I know the meaning makes me so sad.”

Actor didn’t reveal his identity for 11 years

Peck was arrested in 2003 on 11 charges relating to Drake Bell’s abuse. This included sodomy, lewd act upon a child 14 or 15 by a person 10 years older, and oral copulation by anesthesia or controlled substance.

He was handed a 16-month sentence behind bars and ordered to register as a sex offender.

After being released from hail in 2005, he was hired by Disney Channel to work on The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. He performed voice over work for three episodes and didn’t interact with cast or crew, Variety reports. Peck was terminated after the broadcaster learned of his conviction.

He continued to appear in a number of projects in the years that follows. His final acting credit was in 2018 for Animal Showdown.

Due to the TV actor being a minor at the time, his name was not made public when the case made it to court in 2004. The brave Hollywood star decided to reveal what happened through the docuseries Quiet on Set, which aired last week.

Nickelodeon said in a statement afterwards: “Now that Drake Bell has disclosed his identity as the plaintiff in the 2004 case, we are dismayed and saddened to learn of the trauma he has endured, and we commend and support the strength required to come forward.”
