European giants now have £35m Chelsea player on their list, he's not ruled out exit in the summer - journalist

One Chelsea player is attracting interest from Bayern Munich ahead of the summer transfer window.

Bayern could be in the market for a couple of new defenders with the futures of Matthijs de Ligt and Alphonso Davies currently in doubt.

Last month, it was claimed that De Ligt was not happy at the Allianz Arena.

As for Davies, his contract is running down and the 23-year-old has actually been linked with a move to Chelsea.

If Davies does depart the German club, it looks like they could turn to Chelsea and replace him with Ian Maatsen.

Will Bayern Munich try to sign Ian Maatsen from Chelsea this summer?

It seems a possibility as the 22-year-old continues to impress during his loan spell at Borussia Dortmund.

Journalist Florian Plettenberg has reported on X that Bayern have Maatsen on their list as a potential replacement for Davies.

The Dutchman has not ruled out leaving Chelsea permanently in the summer, stating last month that his options are “open”.

Maatsen has a £35m release clause in his contract.

It is not a huge shock that the Netherlands U21 international has caught Bayern’s attention since arriving in the Bundesliga. In 10 games, he has scored one goal and provided a couple of assists, which is quite impressive for a full-back.

Should Chelsea sell Ian Maatsen to Bayern Munich?

With a release clause in his contract, there is not much that Chelsea can do.

Really, the Blues should be keeping hold of Maatsen, as they have had problems at left-back this season, namely injuries.

However, it looks like their academy graduate will be leaving Stamford Bridge for good in the summer.

Dortmund will likely want to keep him after his impressive loan spell with them, while it now seems like he could become an option for their rivals if Davies departs the Allianz Arena. It would be a surprise, at this point, if Maatsen put on a Chelsea shirt ever again.
