Jose Mourinho now gives honest reaction to Chelsea fans chanting his name at recent games

Chelsea legend Jose Mourinho has now given his reaction to the fact that Chelsea fans have been chanting his name at games recently.

He told Fabrizio Romano what it is like for a coach who feels he has given everything during his time in the role to still have those efforts recognised years later.

Mourinho had two extremely successful spells at Stamford Bridge, winning the Premier League three times as well as a host of domestic trophies.

Recent years have not gone so well for the Portuguese manager, with him being sacked this season as Roma manager.

Despite being out of work, this has not stopped Chelsea fans reminiscing on old times during a spell they will consider one of their worst in recent memory.

Mourinho proud Chelsea fans chant his name

Mourinho’s name has been chanted at multiple games recently by both home crowds and those who travel to follow the club away, and he has said that he is proud that his 100% commitment to every job he has had has been recognised.

He said: “The first feeling is, I always say that the best thing football has are the fans. Because the fans, they don’t make money with football, sometimes they spend money that the family needs and they make sacrifices because of the passion for football and especially for the passion with the clubs.

“So normally, they are fair. When the club fans don’t like the players, don’t like the coach for some reason, it’s not because beautiful eyes, it’s not because handsome guy, they love it or don’t love it for some reason.

“In my case, independent of results, of course I had the luck to have always something to celebrate, something for the fans to have a good memory of me, but something that they see is that you are committed to them, and I’m always committed to my club, fans, doesn’t matter which country which club.

“So I think they have a feeling that I give everything. And because of my personality, in the end I’m always going to be more than a coach.

“I think the base of everything is that they see I arrive, I wear the shirt and I fight for them.”

Pressure on Pochettino

The mood of the fanbase towards their current manager is not so strong, with there being pressure on the shoulders of Mauricio Pochettino at the helm.

The Argentine has struggled to endear himself to his new supporters this season, and some of the decisions he makes has left fans angry.

This occurred in their most recent game against Leicester in the FA Cup, where Raheem Sterling was left on the pitch rather than Mykhailo Mudryk, despite the England international enduring a rough outing.

It has been reported that some at the club are divided over what to do with Pochettino, and Mourinho’s name is one that refuses to go away when talking about potential managers to come in and replace him.
