N.J. man, 76, charged with sexually assaulting child

A 76-year-old Bergen County man has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a child in Hackensack, officials said.

Phillip Porter of Hackensack was charged with first-degree aggravated sexual assault, and second-degree sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child, according to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office.

The Hackensack Police Department contacted county officials about the alleged sexual assault on Saturday, it was stated in a news release. Officials said the child was under the age of 13.

Porter is being held in the Bergen County Jail until his first court appearance.
