'Perfect...': Marouane Fellaini hails 26-year-old Aston Villa star after what he did last night

Marouane Fellaini was blown away by what he saw one of Aston Villa’s players do on Tuesday evening.

Ollie Watkins, Ezri Konsa and Youri Tielemans all saw game time during England’s 2-2 draw with Belgium.

It was a night to remember for Tielemans after the 26-year-old netted twice for Domenico Tedesco’s side.

The Aston Villa star opened the scoring with a clever finish after a rare mistake from Jordan Pickford in the England net.

Ivan Toney levelled from the spot before Romelu Lukaku produced a fine cross to set up Tielemans’ second. However, the away side couldn’t hold on as Jude Bellingham netted with practically the last kick of the game to salvage a deserved point.

Tielemans’ performance certainly caught the eye, and Marouane Fellaini was full of praise for his compatriot’s second goal.

What did Marouane Fellaini say about Youri Tielemans?

Talking on Channel Four’s halftime coverage, the former Manchester United midfielder said [20:41 26, March]: “The cross is perfect; it’s perfect timing and a perfect header. It’s a very good counterattack.”

The 26-year-old’s performance on Tuesday was more evidence that he’s the man to play a more advanced role for Unai Emery’s side.

He was sometimes almost playing as a second striker alongside Romelu Lukaku. Tielemans’ eagerness to break lines and commit to attacking situations could be crucial between now and the end of the season.

Per FotMob, he created two big chances along with his brace and completed eight passes in the final third.

Ahead of Saturday evening’s clash against Wolves, Emery must consider Tielemans regardless of his struggles against West Ham United last time out.

Villa are without John McGinn and could still be without Jacob Ramsey for the visit of Gary O’Neil’s side, which almost guarantees Tielemans a start on Saturday evening.

All eyes will be on the midfielder to replicate his Wembley heroics upon his return to club football.
