Report: Wolves battling four other clubs for 'phenomenal' 24-year-old who's been compared to Alisson

Wolves are reportedly one of a few clubs interested in signing a player who impressed for Brazil against England on Saturday.

Wanderers watched as the Three Lions fell to a 1-0 defeat at Wembley, with Brazil proving tough to break down.

Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes had a good game in midfield, and he was praised after the game by Micah Richards for his performance.

Fabricio Bruno was also quite good at the back. He is someone Wolves apparently made an approach for last year.

It is now being claimed that one Brazil player actually caught Wolves’ attention after Saturday’s game…

It’s been reported today that Wolves are showing an interest in goalkeeper Bento, who made his debut against the Three Lions on Saturday.

Globo Esporte claim that Bento has become a wanted man following his performances against England and also Spain last night.

Wolves are keen, but Inter Milan, Chelsea, Nottingham Forest and Benfica are also showing interest.

In recent days, clubs have been working to figure out the situation with his contract at Paranaense. Since last year, the player has received several proposals to leave the club.

But with his profile having grown by representing the national team, Paranaense are keen to increase their asking price.

One bid of €15 million (£12.8 million) was turned down last year and so, one would imagine the 24-year-old will be valued higher than that now.

Respected website Breaking The Lines ran a feature on Bento last year, and said of the player: “He’s a phenomenal talent in the making albeit a bit of a late bloomer, and will carry on becoming even better.”

The publication also state that Bento has already been compared to fellow countryman Alisson. They add: “Bento’s reflexes are quite simply put – phenomenal. His ability to go to ground or up in the air in an instant is spectacular. His stretch and his movement across and even the way he makes a quick extra step to then only get down to the bottom corner is quite something and a trait that Alisson is praised for a lot.”

Jose Sa set to leave?

Bento is now the third goalkeeper to have been linked with Wolves since the last transfer window closed.

A couple of weeks ago the club were linked with Columbus Crew’s Patrick Schulte.

More recently, the club have been linked with Mile Svilar, with club scouts having been to watch him in action for AS Roma against Brighton.

It has previously been suggested that Gary O’Neil isn’t hugely keen to sign a new goalkeeper, unlike his predecessor Julen Lopetegui.

But Jose Sa‘s exit may be sanctioned this summer if a big enough bid comes in. As good a shot-stopper as he is, there are still question marks over his distribution and he has shown he can sometimes be a bit rash.
