The Eras Tour is a fun time for everyone, except one man, who was jailed for six weeks after sneaking fans in, and it looks like the judge was a Taylor Swift fan too…
Chinese national Li Xiaowei, 45, was jailed for six weeks after sneaking three people into Taylor Swift‘s Eras Tour concert at the National Stadium, in Singapore, on March 4. The judge had some amusing opening words for him, in the words of the songstress.
Judge quotes Taylor Swift as trespasser walks in
Everyone wants a ticket to the hottest gig in town, but Li helped three women in without one as he held the turnstile open for them and pushed them through.
Before explaining the premeditated offense, the judge said, “Foreshadowing Taylor Swift’s hit song, I Knew You Were Trouble, the accused entered the National Stadium with the intent of committing the offense.”
As a concertgoer entered the music venue, Li held onto the bar to prevent it from locking and then pushed the three women through.
However, another concertgoer had witnessed what was going on and alerted an officer. Li and Yang, who was also part of the ‘plot’ left the scene but were arrested by officers, who could not find the three women.
The women who entered the concert for free met Yang on arrival, after being connected with him after meeting another man asking if they wanted to attend the concert on a connecting flight from Wuhan to Penang.
When arriving at the scene one of the women transferred 12,000 yuan to an Alipay account when Yang told her to.
“Given the sheer number of concertgoers at The Eras Tour and the fact that the area near the turnstile gates was crowded at the time, Li’s offense constituted a serious breach of the public order, for which a deterrent sentence was warranted,” Deputy Public Prosecutor Darren Ang said (via The Straits Times).
Li pleaded guilty to one count of criminal trespass.
The Eras Tour is ‘on a break’ until May
After hundreds of shows, and jetting out of the US and swiftly back (in time for the Super Bowl) Taylor Swift and The Eras Tour are going on a well-deserved break until May, when the European leg begins.
During her downtime, the singer has been spotted sunning it up in the Bahamas with her boyfriend, Travis Kelce.
They’re now back in the US and have been seen on several outings together, including dining out at Nobu and working out at the gym. However, they are actually having some ‘chill time’ as the NFL star previously revealed they’d be catching up on all the TV shows they’d missed.
