Aston Villa eye summer swoop for World Cup winner, it would be their biggest signing yet

Aston Villa have upped their pursuit for World Cup winner, who is available for a bargain price.

The upcoming summer window is massive for Villa. Under the guidance of Unai Emery, Villa Park looks set to host Champions League football next season.

The Birmingham side could also win their first major trophy this century as they eye the Europe Conference League title.

Therefore, the upcoming transfer window is vital to Villa to ensure they build on their success rather than collapse under it. Many teams before them have failed to take advantage of a prosperous season such as Southampton who are now in the Championship.

However, it seems that targets have already been drawn up with the club looking to make an eye-catching signing who could be Villa’s best player in years.

Dybala has been one of the hottest names in Europe throughout his career. Starting off at Instituto, the Argentine eventually moved to Juventus winning multiple league titles.

Now, he resides at Roma where he helped the capital side reach the Europa League final last season. In 2022, he also helped his country win the World Cup in Qatar.

The 30-year-old is now in the prime of his career and is reportedly being chased by Villa. According to Corriere della Sera, Villa have now contacted the agents of Dybala to get more information on a potential transfer to Birmingham.

The attacker has a release clause in his contract which will allow him to leave to teams outside of Italy for £11.2 million.

However, Villa faces stiff competition for his signature. Both Chelsea and Newcastle are also reportedly interested as the race heats up ahead of the summer.

Dybala has been one of the top players in the world now for many years. The attacker has continued to compete at the highest level throughout his career and would be a real coup for Villa.

While wages might be a sticking point, his release clause is well below the value for a player of his quality.

If Villa can get it over the line, it would be a real statement proving to the ‘big six’ that Villa are here to stay and compete.

With there being a good chance of Villa reaching the Champions League, Dybala would help give the side some much-needed experience in the competition and could well become a fan favourite.
