Mikel Arteta calls up 'fantastic' 18-year-old with penchant for 'stunning' free kicks to Arsenal training pre Man-City

Arsenal will be contesting one of the biggest fixtures of the English calendar this weekend and could potentially take a big step towards the Premier League title.

On Sunday, Mikel Arteta‘s Gunners will be heading to the Etihad Stadium to take on reigning champions Manchester City in a 4:30pm kickoff.

Arsenal currently sit top of the standings on 64 points, but Liverpool are level on points in second and Man City are just a point behind in third.

Arteta has been putting his players through their paces in recent days, albeit with a limited squad amid many of his top stars still out on international duty.

However, the likes of Ben White, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Thomas Partey, Reiss Nelson, Eddie Nketiah, Fabio Vieira and Mohamed Elneny all took part.

There were also a few academy players taking part in Tuesday’s session at London Colney, which the Arsenal media team photographed.

One of those taking part in training was Michal Rosiak, one of the brightest talents in the Gunners youth setup.

Who is Arsenal academy talent Michal Rosiak?

Michal Rosiak is an 18-year-old midfielder who can also play at right-back, and has been making waves at Under-18 and Under-21 level in recent months.

The Poland Under-19 international moved from his home country to England back in 2016, when he was just 10 years of age.

Prior to coming to England, Rosiak used to play for Glaz Tychowo, his hometown team. And in England, he joined Arsenal after being scouted at a football tournament with his school.

The versatile teenager has split his time between the Under-18s and the Under-21s this term, as well as the occasional training session with the senior team.

Rosiak has six goals and four assists from 13 U18 Premier League outings, and seven Premier League 2 appearances this term.

The Arsenal gem has also featured in the EFL Trophy, UEFA Youth League and FA Youth Cup for the young Gunners this season.

Rosiak has a penchant for ‘stunning‘ free kicks and Arsenal legend Ian Wright deemed him a “fantastic” player earlier this season.

It’s great to see academy players get a chance to learn from the senior players and coaches. It’s an honour only the top talents get, so let’s hope we get to see more of Rosiak in the coming years.
