Liverpool now told they can sign Michael Edwards target for £40m, he would like Anfield move - Fabrizio Romano

Michael Edwards has now learned how much it will take to bring one of his targets to Liverpool this summer.

The man from Southampton – who was recently hired as CEO of Football at Anfield – has a lot of work to do this summer amid the departure of Jurgen Klopp and also the German’s entire backroom staff.

Despite the fact Michael Edwards is yet to find a replacement for the 56-year-old, there are some transfer targets he wants regardless of who becomes Liverpool manager, with one price tag now being revealed…

Liverpool told they can sign Michael Edwards target for £40m

Well, Liverpool and Manchester United are keen to sign Jean-Clair Todibo from OGC Nice this summer.

That is according to French news outlet Nice-Matin, who also mentioned that the France international is attracted by the prospect of a move to Anfield.

Now, OGC Nice have named their price for Todibo, with Fabrizio Romano relaying the information.

The reliable Italian journalist wrote: “Understand Jean-Clair Todibo will be valued by OGC Nice around £40m for the summer transfer window. He was already on Man United list since last summer but more clubs in PL and not only keep monitoring him. French international and OGC Nice vice captain could be on the move.”

Liverpool are seemingly on the lookout for a new central defender to replace Joel Matip, who has struggled badly with injuries this season – making just 14 appearances – and sees his contract expire in July.

Todibo has made 25 appearances in all competitions so far this season, and after a recent incident, the defender does seem likely to leave OGC Nice this summer.

Jean-Clair Todibo may have burned his bridges

The 24-year-old was actually involved in a confrontation with his own supporters recently.

Todibo clashed with OGC Nice fans after a 2-1 defeat to Montpellier, in which the Liverpool target scored an own goal to get his side off to the worst possible start.

That incident – along with the fact OGC Nice are making their asking price public knowledge – would strongly suggest that the man from Cayenne will be on the move this summer.

Will it be to Liverpool? Only time will tell.
