21yo forward shone on international duty, he's "going to do everything" for Gers move

Rangers have seemingly scrapped for every goal this season with Philippe Clement inheriting the problem that has plagued the side for years.

Even with a change of personally, the Gers boss has still seen his side drop points and make games more difficult than they should have been if there were more clinical players in the squad.

Creativity was also an issue earlier in the season but there seems to be more Rangers players capable of creating chances than Philippe Clement has had at most points during his short tenure – could a summer option that has been mentioned become a reality?

Could Philippe Clement bring Fabio Silva back to Rangers?

The hope will be that Abdallah Sima can return to the sort of form that he was in earlier in the season, in particular, his uncanny knack of scoring goals.

Rabbi Matondo is fit again and he had been one of our brighter players earlier in the season, he just hasn’t been able to keep himself fit though.

Then, there is the hugely unlucky Oscar Cortes.

The 20-year old looked a genuine find after moving from Ligue 1, with the option to buy clause looking like a no brainer.

If Cortes is probably going to be coming back to Ibrox there is another whose situation is slightly more up in the air.

Fabio Silva has said all the right things everytime he has been asked about the possibility of coming back to Rangers either on a permanent or another loan deal.

“I love to be here,” Fabio Silva told BBC Sport. “You know, in football, in life, I don’t control these things 100% so it’s not my decision 100% to stay here.

“If we win titles and everything is going the right way, Rangers and me we are going to do everything for me to stay.”

The 21-year old maybe hasn’t been prolific but he has caused opposition defences problems in most of the games that he has played.

Through necessity, he has looked better on the left-hand side, there are certain games though where being a central striker could be an option with the right players either side of him.

A luxury he has not been afforded since signing from Wolves.

Is there a realistic chance of Silva returning to Rangers?

That his dad and agent has confirmed there is a possibility of Silva coming back is a situation that Clement should seriously consider.

“We have a long contract with Wolves but Fabio has to settle down somewhere. Is there a possibility of Fabio staying at Rangers next season if he does well, even on loan? I think so, yes. Listen, in four months many things can happen.

“But I hope Rangers can be champions this season which would be amazing for the club and also for Fabio.

“To play in the Champions League, that’s something Fabio has desired so much. He needs continuity in his career now. If Rangers are happy with him – and obviously the last word will be with Wolves – why not?”

We will probably lose Sima unless we can find the money needed to sign a player who cost Brighton £6m and who will still command a sizeable fee – £10m+ has been mentioned.

The option on Cortes isn’t compulsory either so we could be back at squad one with just Matondo in the squad.

We know what we would be getting with Silva and his performances for Portugal Under-21’s this week show that he will score goals and create chances if he is given a run of games.

Hopefully, he scores a few more in the coming weeks and months.
