'I wouldn't buy him': Charlie McParland claims Forest won't even be able to sell 23-year-old for £3m

Charlie McParland has made a surprising claim about Nottingham Forest star Callum Hudson-Odoi. The comments came when talk turned to who the Reds could sell to recoup some transfer funds.

It’s going to be a hectic summer for Forest regardless of what division they might find themselves in. With financial fair play still hanging over the Reds, they will have to offload a star player it would seem.

Murillo has been linked with a move away from the City Ground, with four Premier League clubs thought to be keen. The Forest defender has also just signed up with a new agent ahead of the transfer window.

Morgan Gibbs-White is another who will attract some serious interest, with West Ham and Tottenham keen on signing him. He would cost any club that wants to sign him a vast amount, however, and he could be harder to sell.

One way or another, Forest will have to raise some funds to ensure they meet the next fair player cycle. With that in mind, the discussions will start over who should be kept and who should be sold.

Charlie McParland makes surprise claim about Nottingham Forest star

This conversation came on this week’s edition of Team Talk on Notts TV. McParland is a regular guest on the show and talk turned towards Forest and their assets.

Bizarrely, McParland doesn’t appear to be a fan of Callum Hudson-Odoi. A chat with host Mark Shardlow saw him discount the winger as someone who the club wouldn’t make a profit on.

Forest only paid £3 million for Hudson-Odoi from Chelsea in the summer. He’s scored four goals since checking in at the club and when he’s been fit, the winger has largely done okay.

The conversation on Team Talk between McParland and Shardlow went as follows:

McParland: “Hudson-Odoi, I wouldn’t buy him.”

Shardlow: “They’d make profit on him though, wouldn’t they?”

McParland: “No, I don’t think so really.”

Forest would easily make profit on Hudson-Odoi

This is a ludicrous claim from McParland. In fairness, however, McParland has worked in football for a long time and he’s entitled to his opinion.

Hudson-Odoi was a bargain at £3 million. As a result, the Reds would comfortably make a profit on the player in our opinion.

The player is only 23-years-old and ultimately he still has an abundance of untapped potential that could alert clubs in the future.

Hudson-Odoi perhaps still has to convince people over his injury record but Forest would comfortably get more than £3 million back for him if they decided to sell.

These comments from McParland are somewhat strange and in hindsight, hopefully, we will never know whether he’s right as Forest will surely be keen to keep him.
