"Really surprised me": Chris Sutton now predicts result of Bournemouth vs Crystal Palace

Chris Sutton has now shared his prediction for Tuesday’s Premier League clash between Bournemouth and Crystal Palace.

Oliver Glasner will be looking for a first win since the 3-0 victory over Burnley in his first match since replacing Roy Hodgson.

A spirited, but ultimately fruitless, performance at Tottenham saw us suffer a 3-1 defeat before two consecutive 1-1 draws against Luton and Nottingham Forest followed.

So, what does Chris Sutton expect to happen as Oliver Glasner aims for his first away victory in charge of Crystal Palace? Let’s take a look…

Chris Sutton predicts Bournemouth vs Crystal Palace

Well, the 51-year-old is tipping Crystal Palace to lose this clash at the Vitality Stadium by a narrow 2-1 scoreline.

Sutton told BBC Sport: “These two teams are next to each other in the table in 13th and 14th but the difference is Bournemouth are eight points ahead and looking up the table, while Crystal Palace are still looking over their shoulder at the teams below them.

“Palace should be fine in terms of staying up, but they are a team in transition and are too reliant on Eberechi Eze for creativity. This is going to be close but Dominic Solanke is still scoring and the Cherries are on a good run of results. They have really surprised me this campaign, especially after the way they started it.

“I reckon Bournemouth will edge it.”

The Cherries have already got one over on the Eagles this season.

Bournemouth won the reverse fixture at Selhurst Park by a 2-0 scoreline thanks to goals from Marcos Senesi and Kieffer Moore, on a miserable night which ended with Roy Hodgson being hit by a plastic bottle.

Hopefully, Tuesday’s clash on the south coast turns out better for Crystal Palace – could it go much worse?

Time to end the corner hoodoo

Ironically, the last time Crystal Palace scored directly from a corner came in last season’s 2-0 win against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.

Both goals came directly from corners as Jordan Ayew and Ebere Eze got on the scoresheet.

However – despite 210 attempts – Crystal Palace have not scored from a corner since that day back in December 2022.

Now, as we return to the Vitality Stadium, this bizarre situation simply has to end.
