'Generational talent": TNT Sports pundit absolutely blown away by 24-year-old Newcastle star tonight

It’s worth remembering that Newcastle United have some fantastic players right now.

We may have been robbed of seeing many of them thanks to an injury crisis that will surely need some explaining but Newcastle’s squad boasts some exceptional talents.

Bruno Guimaraes has arguably been the standout since joining the club in January 2022 amid all the praise he gets from some of the leading figures in the game but there are others.

Anthony Gordon, after all, has been billed as one of the Premier League’s standout players this season.

Then, there’s Alexander Isak.

The Sweden international can achieve “incredible things” in the eyes of Eddie Howe, who reportedly wants to build his team around the 24-year-old.

Indeed, the praise continued on Tuesday night.

Newcastle star Alexander Isak now described as a “general talent”

Isak scored against Everton at St James’ Park and duly broke an 11-year record at the club, becoming the first player to net in five consecutive home games for the club since Yoan Gouffran in 2013.

He’s been in fine form all season despite injury issues and followed up his two penalties against West Ham on Saturday with another good finish.

That’s now 14 Premier League goals in just 18 starts this season, which is some tally considering the dysfunctional nature of Newcastle’s campaign.

TNT Sports pundit Lucy Ward was notably impressed. She said of Isak: “He is a generational talent in terms of a number nine.”

Alexander Isak is in scintillating form right now

That’s now five goals in his past four games, showing what Isak is capable of when he’s free from injuries.

Keeping him consistently fit may be a challenge for the club but there’s little doubting his quality when he’s healthy.

Quite how Newcastle get around his injuries remains to be seen but, if they can do so, Isak will surely only get better and better.
