Tottenham fans are all saying the same thing about Micky van de Ven after West Ham draw

Tottenham Hotspur fans have all been left saying the same thing about Micky van de Ven’s display against West Ham.

Spurs had to settle for a point on Tuesday night in their trip to the London Stadium against the Irons.

It was a night which will have left the Spurs forwards frustrated as they struggled to break down the West Ham backline.

Ange Postecoglou’s side opened the scoring inside the first five minutes, but it proved to be a real slog for the remainder of the game.

A number of Tottenham’s star men may have felt they were unable to show their best against the resilient West Ham defence.

However, there were some promising performances out there for the Spurs fans to enjoy.

What Tottenham fans said about Micky van de Ven

Having been sidelined for a number of weeks through another hamstring injury, the Dutchman returned to the fold on the weekend against Luton Town.

But it was Radu Dragusin who got the nod on Saturday at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Postecoglou brought Micky van de Ven back in to the starting XI for the trip across London to face David Moyes’ side.

It was the 22-year-old’s first game since Tottenham’s emphatic victory against Aston Villa last month.

And it is fair to say Spurs fans were delighted to see their summer signing return to the starting XI as they took to social media to hail the centre-back.

Micky van de Ven’s stats vs West Ham

Keeping clean sheets has proven to be a real issue for Spurs this season, but the Dutchman did put in a solid shift at the back.

The game on Tuesday night was Van de Ven’s 19appearance in the Premier League this season and his fitness was clearly not an issue.

Sky Sports presenter Adam Smith also took to social media to praise Van de Ven on his return to the starting XI.

He said: ‘I don’t think non Spurs fans realise how good Micky van de Ven is! I’ve NEVER seen a Quicker CB’

And that pace certainly saw Van de Ven deal with what West Ham had to offer for the large majority of the game.

The only slight blip in his display at the London Stadium was his trip inside the box which left Michail Antonio with a one-on-one with Guglielmo Vicario.

Here is a summary of Van de Ven’s display against West Ham.

  • 90 minutes played
  • 2 clearances
  • 3 tackles
  • 1X dribbled past
  • 3/5 ground duels won
  • 73 touches
  • 60/63 successful passes

It is yet another fairly quick turnaround for Spurs with Nottingham Forest coming to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on the weekend.

So it will be interesting to see whether Postecoglou now looks to keep Van de Ven in the starting XI with the Dutchman seeing out the game without any issues.
