West Ham fans will absolutely love what Edson Alvarez did in the crowd during 1-1 Tottenham draw

Edson Alvarez has been unavailable for selection for West Ham United’s last two Premier League games.

West Ham midfielder Edson Alvarez is so vitally important to everything good that we do as a team – he’s the glue that holds us together.

Hammers boss David Moyes brought the 26-year-old to the London Stadium from Ajax in the summer for around £34 million (Daily Mail).

Alvarez was actually close to joining Chelsea before he moved to West Ham, so that in itself gives us all an idea of just how good he is.

The Mexico international has played a pivotal role for Moyes this season. In 25 Premier League outings for the Hammers, Alvarez has recorded some really impressive stats, via Who Scored:

  • 2.6 tackles per game
  • 1.2 interceptions per game
  • 2.5 clearances per game
  • 86.3% pass completion
  • 1.1 successful aerial duels per game

The former Ajax man’s composure when in possession and his ability to play out from the back is so crucial to us as a team.

We have missed him badly over the past two games. Edson will return for our clash against Wolves this weekend, but then he’ll miss the Europa League quarter-final first-leg game against Bayer Leverkusen through suspension.

Alvarez was in the stands at the London Stadium last night for out 1-1 draw with Tottenham, and he did something that will endear himself even more to the Hammers fans…

He wears his heart of his sleeve and gives absolutely everything for the club whilst out on the pitch.

Is it possible for Alvarez to be even more popular with the West Ham fans? Well, something he did last night might just secure him hero status in East London…

As ‘stand up if you hate Tottenham’ rang around the London Stadium last night, Alvarez stood up with the West Ham fans (West Ham Football).

What an absolute legend of a man you are Edson!

The West Ham fans clearly love Edson Alvarez already, and the fact that he did what he did inside the stadium yesterday proves that he is already an honorary Hammer.

That said, he does need to tone down his aggression at times, because we can’t afford to lose him to suspension for two or three games at a time, and we’re quite simply aren’t the same team without him.
