'We worked it out': Kurt Zouma makes claim about Tottenham's attack after last night's game

West Ham United star Kurt Zouma made a claim about Tottenham Hotspur’s attacking play after last night’s game.

Tottenham had to settle for a point at the London Stadium last night despite dominating for large periods of the game.

Ange Postecoglou’s men get off to a dream start as Timo Werner set up Brennan Johnson inside five minutes. Spurs dominated the early proceedings and pushed for a second goal but were undone by a set-piece in the 20th minute.

Kurt Zouma headed home after being given far too much space inside the Tottenham penalty area from a corner.

It’s fair to say that while Spurs had plenty of the ball thereafter, they struggled to create clear-cut opportunities.

Zouma has admitted that West Ham struggled to deal with Tottenham’s attacking play in the early stages of the game. But the defender believes his side quickly worked out how to defend against Postecoglou’s side.

Speaking to TNT Sports, Zouma reflected on what was a difficult start to the game for West Ham.

“We know Tottenham have a lot of rotations they attack with six people. We had to counter that,” the Hammers defender said.

“It took a bit of time to get it right but as soon as we worked it out they were not that dangerous. So it was a good game tactically after all.”

Have teams worked out how to play against Tottenham?

Spurs haven’t exactly been at their free-flowing best in recent weeks but they made a bright start to last night’s game.

Heung-min Son had a chance to double their lead before West Ham grabbed an equaliser from a corner.

There have been some claims of late that teams have worked out how to defend against Postecoglou’s fluid system.

Yet, Spurs had the necessary chances to win at West Ham, with Destiny Udogie going close late in the game.

While teams have undoubtedly wised up to Spurs’ system this season, Postecoglou’s side continue to dominate games.

Tottenham are lacking cutting edge in the final third at the moment but there should be no concerns over Postecoglou’s tactics.

For the first year of a rebuild, Spurs are in a brilliant position and the progress on the pitch has been evident.
