Liverpool well known to be keeping a close eye on £40m 18-year-old, he’s one of the world’s best young talents

Liverpool are seemingly already making their plans for the upcoming summer transfer window.

Although they don’t yet have a clear picture of who will be in charge of the playing squad, the Reds do at least have a recruitment structure in place.

Between them, the appointments of Michael Edwards as FSG’s CEO of football and Richard Hughes as sporting director at Liverpool are very exciting. The Reds are in good hands.

As a result, we can now better assess the likelihood of transfer rumours that are starting to show up in the press. And there are plenty.

The latest, which comes from The Daily Mail, claims that Liverpool are keeping a very close eye on the progress of one of the world’s best young talents.

Liverpool scouting Brazilian talent

Liverpool have apparently been keeping watch over the South American market for quite some time now. Although moves were never firmed up, interest in the likes of Andre Trindade from Fluminense appeared genuine.

There have been reports that as FSG look to take over another club and develop top young players for Liverpool, they have thought long and hard about that club being in Brazil.

So, with those things in mind, we can certainly understand claims that the Reds are watching Palmeiras midfielder Luis Guilherme.

Guilherme, who is just 18, is reportedly being watched by a number of top Premier League and European clubs. The Mail cite ‘sources in the scouting community’ as placing Liverpool among those admirers.

Being the talent that he is though, Guilherme won’t come cheap. Palmeiras are said to be demanding ‘north of £40m’ to sell the teenager.

Who is Luis Guilherme

Fresh off the back of selling Endrick for huge money to Real Madrid, Palmeiras look to have found another one in Guilherme.

The youngster was recently placed at number 20 in GOAL’s prestigious NXGN series, which ranked the top players born from 2005 onwards. Liverpool, who were reportedly interested in signing Endrick, have been alerted.

Unlike Endrick, Guilherme is more of a midfielder by nature. As a left-footer, the Brazil U20 international is also capable of playing wide mind you, and is a superb dribbler.

If Liverpool don’t get him, then you can be certain that a club of similar standing in Europe will. This young man is made for the top. Let’s hope the Reds can do what they’ve failed to do in the past and get a South American wonderkid signed up.
