Gabriel Magalhaes seen moaning at Arsenal teammate for what he did in the 41st minute vs Luton

Arsenal coasted to a relatively simple 2-0 win over Luton Town at the Emirates Stadium tonight.

A 24th minute strike from Martin Odegaard put the Gunners ahead, before Emile Smith Rowe forced an own goal from Daiki Hashioka in the 44th minute.

However, there was one nervy moment just before Arsenal went 2-0 up which left Gabriel Magalhaes angered…

Well, the Brazilian was far from happy after he was forced to come across to the left and fend Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu away from David Raya’s goal.

The Luton No.17 charged into a gap left by Oleksandr Zinchenko in what was a promising attack for the Hatters, although it was quickly snuffed out by Gabriel.

After getting the ball to safety, Arsenal’s No.6 could be seen gesturing towards the Ukraine international, seemingly to ask where exactly he was as Mpanzu entered the box down his side of the pitch.

In truth, it was a very sloppy opening 45 minutes for the Arsenal No.35 – on a night where he really needed to perform.

Zinchenko has recently lost his place in the side to Jakub Kiwior after missing four Premier League games with a calf injury, but was part of a small group to return to the starting XI alongside Smith Rowe, Reiss Nelson and Thomas Partey as Mikel Arteta rested some key men.

Oleksandr Zinchenko needs to step things up

Even Ian Wright has been concerned by Zinchenko’s performances lately, and the Arsenal legend’s worries will not have been eased by the Ukrainian’s display against Luton.

Andros Townsend – now 32 years of age and nowhere near as quick as he used to be – caused the £32m defender some difficulty at times tonight.

Zinchenko’s lack of bravery in possession also seemed to irk Arsenal fans, as many passes either went backwards or sideways.

As shown by WhoScored, just one of his 66 passes went down as a key pass.

There was a slight improvement in the second half, but against better teams, the £120,000-a-week man will get found out unless he steps things up.
