'Different gravy': Sergio Aguero left absolutely blown away by £225,000-a-week Man City ace in Aston Villa win

Sergio Aguero lauded a certain Manchester City player for his display in his side’s 4-1 thrashing of Aston Villa on Wednesday.

After a relatively lifeless display from City in their 0-0 draw against Arsenal, they were back to winning ways and in style against Unai Emery’s side.

With the Gunners beating Luton Town 2-0 whilst their game was in procession, it was crucial for the hosts to beat Villa.

Pep Guardiola’s men were up for the challenge, as they were at their flamboyant best as they well and truly demolished the visitors.

The football was a sight to behold, as the Sky Blues created chances aplenty, took the attack to Aston Villa, played silky one-two’s and scored goals galore.

Sergio Aguero hails Manchester City player in 4-1 win against Aston Villa

It seemed like City were determined to put in the type of performance to send a message to their title rivals, Liverpool and Arsenal that they are down but certainly not out.

Just 11 minutes into the contest, Rodri scored a wonderful goal, dispatching the ball into the roof of the net to send the Etihad faithful wild.

However, just nine minutes after the Spaniard’s strike, Jhon Duran levelled proceedings for the Villains with a wonderfully-taken finish.

It seemed like an all too familiar feeling for a City side who had squandered their leads this season.

But a certain Manchester City academy graduate in Phil Foden had other plans as he scored a stunning hat-trick against Aston Villa which even impressed Sergio Aguero.

“Different gravy”, the Argentine legend wrote on X about the £225,000-a-week man’s heroics.

As Phil Foden produced a treble of finishes against Aston Villa that Sergio Aguero would have been proud of in his heyday, the Manchester City icon also sang his praises online after his brace against Manchester United.

Phil Foden must back himself at all times

If there was one takeaway from Foden’s glittering performance, it was that he must back himself at all times.

Much like his former teammate Sergio Aguero in a sense, Phil Foden played with a confidence that got the best out of him against Aston Villa.

In certain instances, the Englishman tends to play it safe instead of being as direct and explosive as he can be due to City’s systemic demands.

But Foden is far too much of a protagonist as far as football goes not to back himself to turn any game on its head by producing a moment or even three of magic, including a free-kick, a lovely finish into the bottom corner and a belter into the top corner.
