'They've been brilliant all season': EFL pundit left blown away by standout Leicester City trio

Leicester City returned to winning ways on Monday after defeating Norwich City 3-1 at King Power Stadium.

Enzo Maresca‘s side needed to win and they did pretty convincingly, with a dominant performance over a strong Norwich side, who reside in the top six.

Victory kept them alive in the automatic promotion race and they temporarily moved back to the summit of the Championship table before their rivals picked up three points later in the day.

With a game in hand on league leaders Ipswich Town, who reside two points clear, City remain in the strongest position.

The Foxes have quality in abundance and should get over the line in this incredible season, which could see points tallies in the 90s not enough to secure a top-two finish.

Despite a recent drop-off, it’s been pretty evident that Leicester have a number of players ready to step up to the Premier League and an EFL pundit has just named the three standout players.

Following Leicester’s win on Monday, Adrian Clarke, speaking on the ‘What the EFL?!’ podcast, named the three players who have stood out most to him this season.

“Well done to the players and the manager and the fans, actually, for regrouping at the King Power,” the former Arsenal winger said.

“Everyone was together and it showed a lot of character I think to win that game.

“The main men scored, Dewsbury-Hall, Mavididi and Vardy, they’ve been brilliant all season.

“If they do get top two, those three are really the standouts in my opinion from the campaign.

“They deserve top two.”

The formidable Leicester trio have netted a combined 39 goals this term whilst laying on 20 assists, which is an incredible tally.

Clearly, if Leicester are to secure a top-two finish, they’ll need them to replicate their performances against Norwich in the remaining seven games.

Promotion is in the hands of Leicester City

Despite Ipswich Town and Leeds United both currently residing ahead of Maresca’s side, the title isn’t in their hands.

Leicester can get a maximum of 106 points, which would equal Reading’s Championship record total, interestingly enough. Meanwhile, Ipswich can get 105 and Leeds 104.

The East Midlanders must use that to their advantage and aim to win the remaining seven games, that should be their ambition.

They’ve already been on a run of nine straight victories this season, so quite clearly they are very capable.

With relegation-threatened Birmingham City to play on Saturday, the King Power faithful will be hopeful of picking up back-to-back wins to continue the momentum.
