3 loanees Leicester City could target in summer after PSR breach, including 'bright' PL gem - opinion

Leicester City are facing an uncertain summer transfer window after breaching Profit and Sustainability rules during the 2022/23 season.

Leicester could be set for a second breach this season and may have to sell key players to avoid doing so.

Graeme Bailey, speaking exclusively to Leicester City News, revealed that the club may have to operate in the loan market.

With that said, here are three loan players the East Midlanders could target.

Wilson Odobert

The ‘bright’ Wilson Odobert has looked like a real danger on Burnley’s flank, despite playing in a team likely to suffer relegation.

Leicester are in desperate need of depth out wide and Odobert, who has registered seven goal contributions this term, would be the ideal addition.

Aged just 19, he has plenty of room to develop and under the stewardship of Enzo Maresca, he could become a real fan favourite at King Power stadium.

Facundo Buonanotte

Facundo Buonanotte is a left-footed playmaker for Brighton and aged just 19, he’s already made two appearances for Argentina’s senior team.

Quite clearly, Brighton won’t want to sanction a permanent deal but they could be willing to allow him to depart on loan to further his development.

Buonanotte has made just 12 starts in the Premier League this term, but at Leicester, he could become a fixture of the starting eleven, which will likely be the club’s pitch.

Maresca and Roberto De Zerbi are known to have a close relationship and considering they set their teams out in similar styles, a loan deal makes sense for both parties.

Fabio Carvalho

Leicester were reportedly after Liverpool’s Fabio Carvalho during the winter transfer window before he moved to fellow Championship outfit Hull City on loan.

The 21-year-old attacker has impressed in his short time at The Tigers, netting five goals across 13 appearances and has looked every inch of a Premier League player.

Carvalho is expected to return to the Merseysiders in May and could be available on another temporary deal.

It wouldn’t at all be surprising to see top-flight clubs after his signature in the summer, so Leicester will need to gain promotion to give themselves a realistic chance of acquiring his services.

The Foxes currently reside in third, two points adrift of league leaders Ipswich Town with a game in hand, so this incredible promotion race remains in their hands.

Leicester play host to relegation-threatened Birmingham City on Saturday.
