'It's difficult': Micah Richards says 44-year-old manager looks 'frustrated' at his club after Liverpool links

Micah Richards has delivered his verdict on a manager Liverpool are said to be considering as Jurgen Klopp’s successor.

The Reds are still fighting for two trophies this season – the Premier League and the Europa League. The focus should be on that, but everyone is intrigued about who will be their next manager.

Klopp will be walking away from Anfield at the end of this campaign. He will be a huge miss for Liverpool, but that decision has been made, and he will not change it.

Liverpool have been linked with a number of managers since, and Richards has noticed a sense of frustration in one of them.

Micah Richards says Liverpool manager target is ‘frustrated’ at his current club

Liverpool need to get their next appointment right.

Jurgen Klopp has been at the club for so long and has brought a lot of success. He has done a magnificent job, he will be leaving a huge void when he departs.

Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes are busy at work as they try to finalise their main target, but as things stand, a few managers remain in contention for the Liverpool job.

Ruben Amorim’s name has been going around a lot, while surprise options like Unai Emery, Ange Postecoglou and even Kieran McKenna have emerged.

One manager who could be a concrete option for the Reds is Brighton and Hove Albion boss Roberto De Zerbi.

The 44-year-old has done a remarkable job at the Amex. He is a fantastic manager and is destined to get a big job one day.

Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move for De Zerbi. Micah Richards now believes that the Italian is getting a bit frustrated at Brighton because of their transfer policy.

After Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer suggested that De Zerbi could be on his way out of Brighton, Richards added on BBC Match of the Day: “He’s excellent, though, I mean, he’s a brilliant coach, done great things at Brighton.

“But, it’s difficult as a manager if you’re going to sell your best players – don’t forget the players he lost this year – and then you have to reinvest in young talent who are potentially going to leave you.

“So, he’s probably a little bit frustrated.”

Roberto De Zerbi already loves one Liverpool player

Xabi Alonso may have rejected Liverpool, but most other managers in the world would surely jump at the chance of replacing Jurgen Klopp.

The Reds are one of the biggest clubs in the world. They have some of the best players as well, which makes them a very attractive option for managers.

Roberto De Zerbi has done a great job at Brighton. He has good players at his disposal there, but none of them are quite at Liverpool‘s level, are they?

One Reds star, however, has an admirer in De Zerbi having worked with him in the past – Alexis Mac Allister. The 44-year-old raved about him recently.

“He’s become a great, great player. The assist for the second goal is incredible. Proud of him,” De Zerbi said after Liverpool beat Brighton last weekend

Working with him, he deserved to be an important player in a big team.”
