‘Incredible’ former Tottenham player could make Premier League return just months after Ange Postecoglou sold him

Tottenham Hotspur could now see a player they sold in the summer return to the Premier League already.

Daniel Levy and the Tottenham board have overseen a lot of changes over the last 12 months.

The arrival of Ange Postecoglou was just the start with the Australian then putting his own stamp on the squad which he inherited.

Tottenham’s recruitment under the 58-year-old has been seriously impressive with players like Micky van de Ven and Guglielmo Vicario proving to be sensational pieces of scouting.

It is players like this which have helped Spurs to where they are now with Van de Ven receiving huge praise from club legend Glenn Hoddle recently.

A spot in next season’s Champions League is the goal for Spurs this season, but there have been some bumps in the road.

The draw against West Ham on Tuesday night saw one of Postecoglou’s in-game decisions come under a lot of scrutiny in the aftermath.

But it has to be remembered that Tottenham saw their record goalscorer Harry Kane leave in the summer alongside a number of other players.

Spurs could already see summer departure return to the Premier League

Postecoglou is still in the midst of making this squad his own, but he has certainly done a solid job of it so far with Spurs massively improved on last season.

Getting rid of every single player he did not want last summer was never going to be possible and it was always going to be a process.

But there were a number of players who had spent a good number of years at Tottenham leave.

There are more expected to follow this summer with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg said to be one player who is almost certain to leave.

Other potential exits include the likes of Joe Rodon, Tanguy Ndombele and Bryan Gil to name just a few.

One player who did leave last summer was centre-back Davinson Sanchez as he departed for Galatasaray in a deal worth around £12.8m.

It is now claimed, ahead of the summer, Newcastle United could provide him with a potential return to the Premier League.

Along with other Premier League clubs, it is believed Napoli are also showing an interest in the 27-year-old.

Conte said Sanchez was a reliable defender despite rarely playing him

Over his time in north London the £42m Tottenham signing made 207 appearances across all competitions – 43 of those came under Antonio Conte, but he was only awarded 19 league starts.

However, the Italian did lavish praise on Sanchez during their time together following a game he started in the North London Derby.

Speaking to the club’s media, he said: “When we have players like Sanchez and Joe Rodon. A reliable player who doesn’t play but works very hard, the staff are very happy.”

Sanchez received high praise in the early stages of his move to Galatasaray with one reporter calling him “incredible“, but it seems he may be set for a new challenge next term.
