‘Happy to be here’: £45m player suggests he wants to stay at Arsenal after claims he could be sold

A key Arsenal player has claimed he’s happy at the Emirates Stadium after claims he could be sold this summer.

Mikel Arteta faces yet another crucial summer as he continues to shape this current Arsenal side into a team capable of winning major honours.

The Gunners could yet scoop a Premier League and Champions League this season. But Arteta would be the first to admit there is still plenty of work to be done.

It’s no secret that Arsenal are searching for reinforcements in the middle of the park. Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi and Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz are both said to be of interest to Arteta.

The search for a new midfielder has led to speculation surrounding the future of Thomas Partey, with claims that Arsenal are open to selling the Ghanian.

Partey suggests he wants to stay at Arsenal

Despite recent speculation, Partey has insisted he’s happy at Arsenal and hinted that he would like to stay in north London.

“My head is always here,” he told The Mirror following last night’s 2-0 win over Luton. “This is where I choose to play, I’m really happy every time I’m on the field.

“I know a lot of speculation has been going on, but for me, I’m really happy to be here and to continue playing for this club.

“With my contract, I still have to the end of the season, I think. I have to do my best and try to perform at the highest level and I think the most important is to be available every time.”

Partey’s contract at Arsenal

With just 14 months left on his current contract, Arsenal face a big decision over Partey’s future this summer.

The £45 million man has recently returned from a lengthy spell on the sidelines and started in the win over Luton last night.

Yet, Partey has struggled with persistent injuries during his time in north London and has only featured nine times this season.

Partey is undeniably an exceptional player on his day but after the arrival of Rice, he’s not as crucial to Arteta’s side as he once was.

It feels like the right time for Arsenal to move the 30-year-old on and search for a younger alternative to Rice in the middle of the park.
