'What a player': Jurgen Klopp totally amazed by 25-year-old Liverpool star who's 'absolutely insane'

Liverpool picked up a 3-1 win against Sheffield United last night, and Jurgen Klopp was really impressed with one of his players.

It was a tricky game for the Reds against the Blades yesterday.

Yes, they were the favourites by a distance, but the pressure was on them after Arsenal and Manchester City both won their games the day before.

Liverpool had to work hard last night, but they got over the line in the end thanks to goals from Darwin Nunez, Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo.

Jurgen Klopp raves about ‘absolutely insane’ Liverpool player

Liverpool didn’t start the game well yesterday.

Sheffield United could’ve and probably should’ve scored in the very first minute, but Caoimhin Kelleher saved James McAtee’s close-range effort.

The visitors were doing a good job defensively, but Ivo Grbic’s error was capitalised on by Darwin Nunez, who gave Liverpool the lead in the 17th minute.

The Blades equalised in the second half, which put the Reds under a bit of pressure, but that’s when Alexis Mac Allister stepped up with one of the best goals he’ll ever score.

The Argentine, 25, smashed the ball into the top corner to put the Reds in front again, and Jurgen Klopp was absolutely delighted with his performance after the game.

Speaking to BBC Sport, the German said: “He is a really good player, in the first half he was playing six but we knew we could move him slightly higher.

“Then he scores this kind of goal, the two biggest screamers of the season have come from him. Then, the free-kick directly after (struck the bar) – absolutely insane, what a player.”

Alexis Mac Allister’s stats vs Sheffield United will blow you away

Alexis Mac Allister earned an 8.3/10 rating on SofaScore – higher than any other player on the pitch in the game between Liverpool and Sheffield United last night.

The World Cup winner, who played the full 90 minutes, had 103 touches of the ball and completed 77 of his 87 attempted passes, thus maintaining an impressive 89 per cent passing accuracy.

Mac Allister also registered two key passes, made four tackles and two interceptions. He was dribbed past just twice in the entire game as well, which is excellent for someone who isn’t naturally a defensive midfielder.

Liverpool struck gold with the signing of Mac Allister from Brighton last summer, and he has been one of the signings of the season.
