'Big chance for Sunday': Klopp says 'unbelievable' Liverpool player could now be back v Manchester United

Liverpool got the job done on Thursday night as they got the better of a stubborn Sheffield United side to pick up another crucial three points.

The Reds had dropped to second in the Premier League table on Wednesday night as Arsenal won their midweek game, while Manchester City also kept up the pressure.

Liverpool hosted the Blades at Anfield and, while the Reds were heavy favourites on paper, the game wasn’t all that straightforward.

Darwin Nunez had opened the scoring on 17 minutes, but an unfortunate Conor Bradley own goal got the Blades back into the game in the 58th minute.

With the scores level at 1-1 and the tension rising at Anfield, Liverpool needed a moment of magic, and duly got it through Alexis Mac Allister’s long-range rocket.

Substitutes Andrew Robertson and Cody Gakpo then combined to put the Reds 3-1 up and go back to the summit ahead of a quick turnaround in games.

Liverpool are away at Manchester United on Sunday, and the Red Devils will be desperate to make amends after their shock 4-3 loss to Chelsea.

However, Klopp was able to share some good news ahead of the match, telling reporters that a key player now has a “big chance” of being available for the trip to Old Trafford.

Who could be set to return for Liverpool against Manchester United?

Wataru Endo picked up a knock against Brighton last week, and the Liverpool boss opted to rest him for the meeting against Sheffield United.

However, he now looks set to return against Manchester United. Indeed, Klopp suggested he could’ve played tonight, but he opted to play it safe.

Klopp told his post-match press conference at Anfield, as per the Reds media team: “That’s my information [that he will be fit].

“We rested him today. We had a feeling there could have been a chance for tonight but if we leave him out then there is a big chance for Sunday. I hope that didn’t change.”

Endo has become a crucial player for the Reds. He’s selfless, works hard, makes himself available, provides balance to the team, and his passing is accurate and decisive.

With fine margins set to define the latter stages of the title race, having the ‘unbelievable‘ Endo back is a huge boost for a difficult fixture away at Old Trafford.
