Report: Whether Tottenham are now in danger of PSR punishment after losses announced yesterday

Financial Fairplay and Profit and Sustainability Rules have become a part of the Premier League over the last year, more than ever – and Tottenham fans may be worried after Daniel Levy announced losses.

It saw Everton docked 10 points after The Toffees broke the limit of a £105m loss over the space of three years. That point-deduction was reduced to six points, after Everton appealed the initial 10-point fine.

Nottingham Forest went a bit crazy in the summer of 2022 qand while they needed to to bring in many players in that window after promotion – they did too many signings. They have been docked four points.

Daniel Levy announces £86.8m in losses at Tottenham Hotspur

There are doubts about Leicester’s position and it could be that if they get promoted, they might start next season on minus points. Fans have started to worry about their own clubs, in light of the deductions.

Tottenham chairman Levy confirmed this week that Spurs have suffered losses of £86.8m. Not all of that will be under the microscope of PSR rules – and Levy says Spurs will rake in more from third-party events.

The Spurs chairman also said in the statement that the club are in contact with the Premier League over any possible breach of PSR and welcomes the new approach to applying the rules, in a strict manner.

Now, The Mail claim ‘insiders’ at Tottenham have confirmed that the losses will not ‘impact’ the club’s ability to meet PSR rules – and that there is ‘no risk’ of a deduction. Good news, for Tottenham supporters.

Things will only get better for Tottenham financially, from here

It will only get better for Spurs from here, too. Tottenham look set to return to European competition next season, with the club sitting in fifth. This season, fifth could mean a fifth club in the Champions League.

A huge boost, to go from no European competition to the best one of the three. Manchester United’s late loss to Chelsea on Thursday night has pretty-much cemented Tottenham’s place in fourth or fifth place.

Whether or not it will impact Tottenham’s work in the transfer window remains to be seen. Richarlison could be sold if the price is right and he might be one of a number of players that bring in some cash.
