‘Special’ manager is now actively interested taking the Liverpool job and replacing Jurgen Klopp

As Liverpool continue to chug towards a potential Premier League title, the Reds’ search for a new manager is set to a reach its own conclusion.

With eight games still to play – and more on the calendar for the Europa League – Jurgen Klopp’s exit still feels a little way off.

But the truth is, that it really isn’t anymore. We’re now a little over six weeks away from the manager’s final Premier League match. That will come up quickly.

As things stand, Liverpool haven’t publicly made a decision on which of the five coaches they are considering will take charge next season.

However, according to a report from The Independent today, one of that quintet has given the green light to the Anfield job.

What has been reported today

The piece from The Independent is largely focusing on the differences between Liverpool and the team they face on Sunday – Manchester United.

With United also potentially looking for a new manager in the summer, some comparisons are drawn between the two searches.

Liverpool is, logically, said to be seen as the more attractive of the two jobs by prospective new managers. The job at Anfield is also reportedly viewed as being better than the one on offer at Barcelona.

This is claimed to be important in regards to Liverpool’s pursuit of Sporting manager Ruben Amorim. The 39-year-old is said to have been the focus of Barcelona as they look to replace Xavi in the dugout.

However, Amorim is reportedly favouring taking over at Liverpool and is claimed to be ‘actively interested’ in doing so.

Is Ruben Amorim favourite for the Liverpool job

As things stand, Amorim is one of a number of candidates still being considered by Liverpool. Along with Roberto De Zerbi, the Sporting manager – who has been described as ‘the special one 2.0’ [Liverpool ECHO] – is probably the most high-profile option.

Despite that though, it doesn’t look as though the Reds have thoroughly nailed down a ‘favourite’ just yet.

Amorim is certainly being considered, but there have been reports that Bologna’s Thiago Motta is as well, while Julian Nagelsmann remains in the running, too.

So, while it’s certainly great news that Amorim is keen on taking the job, we wouldn’t start declaring him as the winner just yet.
