Cole Palmer has already done something at Chelsea which Jack Grealish hasn’t managed in three years at Man City

Chelsea had Cole Palmer to thank yet again this season for bailing them out of trouble in last night’s win over Manchester United.

Chelsea secured a dramatic 4-3 victory at home to Man United in the Premier League, with Cole Palmer stepping up by scoring a hat-trick. This included two goals very deep into stoppage time to steal three points.

The 21-year-old’s been having an outrageously good debut season in Chelsea colours following last summer’s transfer from Manchester City.

He’s walked into a Blues squad that’s completely misfiring and taken it under his wing.

The English attacker is operating on a different level to anyone else at Stamford Bridge right now.

Cole Palmer already smashed Jack Grealish record

Jack Grealish, who’s done well during nearly three years as a Man City player, is a good yardstick to compare Palmer against. Interestingly, it really illustrates just how good the Chelsea youngster is doing right now in west London.

Grealish, who cost £100 million (BBC) to sign from Aston Villa in 2021, has nearly completed three full seasons at Man City. The left-winger’s scored 14 goals in 118 appearances for the reigning European champions in that time.

In contrast, Palmer’s now got a stunning 19 goals in only 36 Chelsea appearances. He’s posting the kind of numbers in one season that 28-year-old Grealisih can’t hit in three.

This is not a Grealish bashing because the England man has a superb all-round game, which is why he’s got a glittering trophy haul and has the trust of City boss Pep Guardiola.

However, surely Guardiola must have second doubts about City selling Palmer last year when he sees the kind of attacking numbers he’s putting up with Chelsea.

Cole Palmer in unstoppable form

Palmer’s been brilliant all season for Chelsea, but he’s really gone into overdrive lately.

The skilful right-winger now has seven goals and three assists in his last five matches across all competitions. To hit 10 G/A in five games is sublime by anyone’s standard.

For those who play the fantasy football game, we say Palmer should be your captain when Chelsea travel to Sheffield United this Sunday in the league.

Speaking via talkSPORT yesterday, Jamie O’Hara has even made a lofty ambition between Palmer and Gareth Bale.
