"We can build something": £15m Crystal Palace player now appears to perform U-turn on his future

Crystal Palace might’ve just been handed a huge boost with one star player dropping a hint about his future at the club.

Ahead of this coming summer transfer window, the common thinking is that Crystal Palace could lose quite a few players.

With Oliver Glasner the manager, he’ll be keen to bring in some players who are suited better to his footballing philosophy, as we’ve seen some struggle recently.

This gives Dougie Freedman a massive job to do this summer, with some players departing with contracts expiring, and others likely to be subject of big-money bids from some of the Premier League’s leading sides.

But despite all of this, one player has just dropped a hint that he might have performed a U-turn on his future.

Joachim Andersen might’ve just performed a U-turn over Crystal Palace future

One player who has long been considered as a potential departure this summer is Joachim Andersen after his comments admitting that he’d be open to leaving, back in September.

The reason was that he wanted to join a bigger club to be playing in European competitions.

It was even reported that Newcastle United were keen on making a move for the defender who cost Palace £15m.

But now, speaking to Palace TV, the Dane seems to have performed a U-turn on this subject.

“We are not happy where we are [in the table]. We want to be much higher and play for something.

It’s been a season with lots of ups and downs. We just need to finish well and then we can build something with the new coach”

Continuing, he further praised Glasner and admitted he sees a good future at Palace.

“I think we’ve seen a really positive direction with the new coach. We play better with the ball now. Creating more chances, we just need to take them.

I think we have a good future here with the gaffer”

Keeping Andersen could be huge for Glasner

Managing to keep Andersen would be brilliant for Palace, especially if Marc Guehi is to be sold this summer – which seems increasingly likely as Newcastle now join the race.

This is because losing both of his star defenders and leaders in the backline would be tricky to replace.

Andersen remaining this summer would keep some level of consistency in the Palace team and he’d be the leader in there needed, with young centre-halves being linked as Guehi replacements.

We will have to wait and see what actually happens this summer and if he does stay, but if he does, it’ll be huge for the club.
