Tottenham coach admits he would leave if he was offered job at club who’re looking for new manager

Tottenham Hotspur have now seen one of their coaches admit he would leave the club right now if he was offered a certain job.

Everything is looking on the up at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with the Lilywhites in a much better state following the appointment of Ange Postecoglou.

A draw on the road against West Ham was by no means the end of the world on Tuesday night with Aston Villa losing the following night.

However, the Spurs manager has admitted that he is slightly disappointed not to see his side a bit further up the league.

It has been an encouraging season for Spurs with a number of their new signings like Micky van de Ven and Guglielmo Vicario fitting nicely into the side.

With eight games remaining, Spurs control their Champions League dream, however, they face some seriously difficult games before the end of the season.

But their relative success under the 58-year-old has seen him already linked with the upcoming vacancy and Liverpool and potential opening at Manchester United.

And it seems it is not just Postecoglou who could be heading for the doors at Hotspur Way for a new managerial challenge.

Spurs coach says he would love to take role away from Tottenham

On Wednesday, the club released their financial report for the year ending 30 June, 2023.

Within the report there were some seriously impressive figures with the club announcing they had broken the £500m mark in revenue for the first time.

And with this, Daniel Levy released a statement where he revealed that the club were actively discussing potential investment opportunities.

It looks like the only way is up for Tottenham with their state of the art facilities really driving their ambition to challenge the top, top sides in Europe.

And this is believed to be seeing interest arrive from a number of parties in America as the opportunity to invest in the club has emerged.

But one person who is keen to seek an opportunity away from the club is the current coach and former striker Jermain Defoe.

Currently working as a coach with the Spurs U18s side, Defoe has spoken to the media about the vacancy at his former club, Sunderland.

“The Sunderland job? Why not? Even when I was a player, I always used to say I’d love to manage this club. If I got an opportunity, I wouldn’t shy away from it, so let’s go.”

“I’ve put my CV into a few clubs and had conversations, just conversations to see where I’m at in terms of my badges. A lot of people don’t remember but I had the year experience at Rangers as player coach, so I was exposed to that level.”

Defoe says he’d pay money to watch current Tottenham star

Having retired in 2022, Defoe was appointed in his current role at Hotspur Way last August and he has been impressed with the work being done in the first-team.

He has even admitted there is one player in James Maddison who he would happily pay money to go and watch week in and week out.

“Maddison, like when I watch Madders play, like you said, you would pay money to watch these players because you know they’ll always do things in the game that make you go ooh. Yeah, I like that.”

Having been around some top managers during his time at Tottenham, it will be interesting to see what type of manager Defoe could become.
