Rio Ferdinand shares Manchester United vs Liverpool prediction, Roy Keane disagrees

Manchester United will be taking on Liverpool this weekend, now some Old Trafford legends have made their predictions.

On Sunday at Old Trafford, it’s a repeat of the FA Cup quarter-final from three weeks ago which was an absolute classic.

Manchester United overcame Liverpool 4-3 in that game and will be desperate for a similarly euphoric outing this coming Sunday.

After Thursday’s 4-3 loss against Chelsea, the game on Sunday is even more important and probably United’s final chance to begin pushing for a Champions League qualification spot.

Although it might even be too late for that.

Ahead of the game, Rio Ferdinand along with the Stick to the Football hosts have given their predictions.

Manchester United legends predict result vs Liverpool this weekend

On this week’s Stick to Football podcast, Ferdinand was on the show and was asked his prediction for the Liverpool game on Sunday.

“The problem with United, I don’t know about you lot, is you don’t know what’s going to turn up,” Ferdinand explained.

“The other day when they beat Liverpool, I think Liverpool lost that game more than Man United won it so I think Liverpool will have the grit between their teeth and there’s a consistency in the way they’re playing that makes them favourites even at Old Trafford. But I’m going to go for a draw. I’m gonna go for 1-1.”

After this Class of 92′ graduate, Gary Neville agreed with this prediction as he also said he saw a 1-1 draw being played out at Old Trafford.

Roy Keane however disagreed with both of his former teammates as he said: “2-1 Liverpool. Liverpool to win.”

All three of these predicted scorelines are bold from the club legends though, considering there were seven goals in the fixture three weeks ago.

Could we see another goal fest vs Liverpool?

After how incredible that FA Cup game was to watch, many will be tuning in, hoping for a repeat.

The chances of this happening are actually pretty high.

Well, at least the chances of United conceding at least three are high, considering how open and leaky we’ve been in recent games.

Conceding record numbers of shots, Liverpool will be licking their lips.

But also, if United can force the game to be open like in the FA Cup or against Chelsea there could very well be a high-scoring win on the cards, as United are best when the game is chaos.

Whether it’s as exciting or not, 1-1 is a prediction that we struggle to see happening. There are goals in this game.
