Moyes must take drastic action with one West Ham player after disgraceful display vs Wolves

West Ham United manager David Moyes needs to step in and take drastic action with one player after his disgraceful showing against Wolves today.

Wolves played host to West Ham in the Premier League at Molineux this afternoon, and we came out of the blocks incredibly slowly, painfully so in fact.

David Moyes doesn’t do himself any favours sometimes does he? I’m not saying that the players are blameless, but it’s clear to see that they are sent out there to sit back and soak up pressure.

I understand that approach against the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal; but for Wolves away? Bournemouth at home? It’s not for me, sorry.

After a performance like that today, it’s easy to see why the likes of Graham Potter are being lined up to replace Moyes at the end of the season.

There were plenty of poor displays out there today, but there was one player who should be taking on real responsibility who stunk out the place…

One West Ham player was disgraceful vs Wolves

That was painful viewing today for the Hammers fans at Molineux. It was a display that lacked any kind of passion, commitment or intent.

Time and time again we’ve come up against very average sides and just allowed them possession. It’s not a sustainable playing style, we’re just lucky to have three truly elite players who can bail us out almost every week.

On the whole, it was an embarrassing display from nearly everyone involved, and there was one player who summed up the complete lack of any kind of guile, leadership or fight on display this afternoon.

Kurt Zouma quite simply should not be club captain. He was so poor, and the way that he ambled toward the half-way line to challenge for the ball just before we conceded the penalty was unforgivable.

I still cannot believe that Moyes gave Kurt the captain’s armband in the first place.

There are two things you need more than anything else to be a club captain, 1) incredible leadership skills and 2) availability.

Zouma has neither of those things. He didn’t speak to the media for about a month when we were going through a really poor run of form at the start of the year, and he certainly doesn’t lead by example on or off the pitch.

Secondly, he has missed 13 games for West Ham this season through injury and Moyes trying to manage his fitness (Transfermarkt).

Moyes now needs to take drastic action and take the armband off Zouma in my opinion. It’s not all the Frenchman’s fault, he’s just physically done at the highest level.

His performance for West Ham against Wolves was disgraceful this afternoon and Moyes needs to act now before it’s too late. Just give the armband to Jarrod Bowen, Vladimir Coufal or Tomas Soucek.
