Linked away star makes big admission about his future at West Ham

Linked away star Aaron Cresswell has made a big admission about his future at West Ham amid persistent speculation of a move.

It has been a strange season or two for Aaron Cresswell at West Ham.

The left-back is currently the club’s longest serving player and is marking 10 years with the Hammers after joining from Ipswich in 2014.

He has also made more Premier League appearances for West Ham than anyone other than Mark Noble.

The Liverpudlian has been superb servant and an absolute bargain for the Hammers at £3.5m.

But he turns 35 in December and pushed for a move to Wolves last summer which failed to materialise.

That saw him allegedly fall out with the club at the time, leading to him training away from the first team for an extended period.

Wolves linked Hammer Cresswell speaks on his future

Cresswell was again linked with a move away in January but has remained with the club with his contract set to expire in the summer.

West Ham have a habit of handing senior pros one-year rolling contract extensions.

But with technical director Tim Steidten overseeing transfers, the Hammers are expected to bring in new young full-backs – an area many fans feel has been neglected for too long.

‘Ten years have gone so fast’

Well now linked away star Cresswell has made a big admission about his future at West Ham.

The left-back admits he does not know where he will be but has loved every moment of his time at the club if he does leave.

“Ten years have gone so fast and there have been so many highs and lows along the way,” Cresswell told The Iron Cast.

“That European night last year was unbelievable and hopefully we have many more.

“I don’t know (what the future holds) but I’m loving every minute I’ve spent here.

Homegrown concern if and when Cresswell departs

“And I’ll give everything when called upon, will be the best number two I can be, and I’ll be cheering the boys on.”

If Cresswell does, as expected, depart West Ham this summer it raises a delicate issue for Steidten and the manager.

That being having enough players who meet homegrown status requirements this summer.

Cresswell is obviously one of those players so that may well dictate the direction of our transfer business.
