‘Outstanding’: Pundit says Tottenham have made an even better signing than Alexis Mac Allister

Who has been the signing of the season in the Premier League?

That question is more difficult this season than it perhaps ever has been.

Indeed, there’s been plenty of good business done across the Premier League from the signing of Declan Rice at Arsenal to the signing of Jeremy Doku at Manchester City.

Speaking on ESPN, Craig Burley has been discussing who he thinks has been the signing of the season, and he named one new addition at Tottenham.

Tottenham player may be Signing of the Season

Burley spoke about Micky Van de Ven, claiming that he is Signing of the Season ahead of his colleagues’ picks of Alexis Mac Allister and Cole Palmer.

“I would throw in I think Kudus for sure, but I would throw in, has there been a better value for money signing than Van de Ven for Tottenham? When he’s not in that side, he’s been absolutely outstanding, hamstring issues apart, he has been an outstanding signing for them,” Burley said.

“You’ve picked Mac Allister, you picked Palmer, for value for money I’m going to say Van de Ven.”

Micky Van de Ven could’ve been better than Mac Allister

It’s hard to make a real case for Van de Ven as a better signing than Alexis Mac Allister due to the fact he’s been injured so often.

The Dutchman has missed way too many games this season to be a serious contender in this conversation, but when he has played, he’s been incredible.

Van De Ven has been a transformative player in Tottenham’s backline this term, but his inability to stay fit has been a big problem.

As the old saying goes, the best availability in football is availability, and way too often Van de Ven has failed that particular test.
